Pink Pig Farm

We have been extra lucky to have been invited to the Pink Pig Farm in Scunthorpe for Harley’s birthday. (The trip was delayed a couple of weeks due to illness).

When we arrived at the farm we entered via the shop and the lady working the store ensured that we had a map to hand and took her time to ensure we knew all the different areas of the farm so that we didn’t miss out on anything.

We started our trip in the Play Barn which is a large indoor soft play area, which is shaped like a pig face! There was different sections which were all clearly visible for the table areas. The tribe enjoyed lots of races down the slides! While the tribe and their Daddy were playing, I decided to order our lunch from the Play Barn, there was lots of choice on both the normal menu and the kids menu, me and Dan opted for the tuna melt panini and chips while the tribe had the sausage and chips with veggie sticks. The chips where proper hand cut homemade chips and were out of this world! So tasty there was certainly no waste!

We then ventured outside and came across the ‘Bale Pool’, this isn’t something I have ever seen before but was so much fun! Even Dan didn’t want to move on from this area! There was lots of different size bales of hay some that were still in the bale making them firm and then lots of scatter hay. In the middle of the shed was tops to swing over from one firmer bale to another. While the babies were happy sat playing in the loose hay Harley had to copy his Dad and swing across like Tarzan only he didn’t let go so just swang back and forth before letting go and falling into the loose hay. Harley then went off with Daddy for a go on the big zip line!

We then ventured through the farm and found the inflated pillows, these again were a massive hit for all the tribe. Harley loves balancing running around the edge of the pillow, Caellen loves jumping around and Amelie enjoyed sliding down the pillow. These really are perfect for everyone, the farm has two different sized inflatable pillows for different ages which works really well as when you have little ones it can be a bit scary letting them on something like this with older children. Also around this pillows are rubber chipping allowing for a safe landing too.

We then went on a tractor ride to see the pigs! The pink tractor and trailer was ready waiting for us, there was lots of space and the trailer was comfy. It was a bumpy ride which the tribe thought was hilarious, we then got to go past the pen with the piglets as well as round the field of pigs. After the tractor ride we went to have a look around the animals. Harley and Caellen loved running up the enclosures and discovering which animals were inside. The piglets were running around their pen and were definitely our favourite animal to see!

During our walk around the animals Amelie decided she would fall over head first into the gravel which gave us a great opportunity to witness first hand the first aid experience. We went over to the cafe and spoke to the waitress who was a trained first aider and couldn’t of been more helpful. She went off and got some sterile solution to wash out the wound and applied a plaster. We were really great full for her help, she was fantastic with Amelie.

We then went into the Play Lane area, this is amazing! The hall is laid out with different role play areas including a vets, shop, builders area, restaurant and dress up section. The tribe were in their elemant. Caellen loved getting dressed up as a builder and stacking the bricks up then pretending to drive the digger. Amelie was rather excited to be free to explore but enjoyed taking the animals in and out of the cages at the vets. Harley loved getting dressed up in the dressing up area as well as going to the shop for the things he needed in the restaurant to make us all some meals. While the tribe were playing me and Dan decided to have a slice of cake and a drink. I had a home made scone with jam and cream which was amazing! Dan had the topped brownie which lasted a few seconds because he enjoyed it haha!

There really is something for everyone at the Pink Pig Farm and something to do in any weather! You can easily spend the full day there open to close. The staff are all really friendly and happy to help, the place is tidy and has a really nice atmosphere. You know its a good day out when everyone but the driver falls asleep on the way home!

Thank you Pink Pig Farm for having us and the tribe to visit we cannot wait to come back again soon. For more information or to book visit http://www.pinkpigfarm.co.uk/

Harley turning FIVE

And just like that my first born baby has turned five! I am not to sure where the past 5 years have gone! When I was pregnant with Harley Jay everyone told me it goes so fast and to treasure every moment, I didn’t understand how quick it would actually go. It seems like yesterday a tiny little premature baby was placed in my arms and my life turned around for the better. After years of feeling lost I finally had a purpose in life, I was responsible for somebody else.
Harley starting school and turning 5 in a period of 4 days I have been an absolute emotional mess! My baby is growing up and its happening way to fast.

This year Harley fully understood what was happening, he had been counting down the days ready for his special day. When he woke up he had the biggest smile on his face and could not wait to get up in the morning. Caellen too was very excited he absolutely loved handing presents over to Harley and being the amazing big brother he is he was so excited to let Cae help to open the gifts. Harley is really into Pokemon thanks to his Dad deciding its appropriate for a 3 year old to collect cards. He finally understands it all so as an extra birthday treat we redecorated his bedroom with a Pokemon theme. (Will add a feature about this in the near future!). A lot of his birthday presents were Pokemon themed but he was so excited to open his water guns, he has spent weeks asking his Grandma to buy some for him as his present as he has some at her house but wants some for here too!

This year Harley’s birthday was on a Saturday so we decided it would be a good idea to throw him a party on the day. This was not a good idea, it is not something I will ever do again, I felt like I spent my day running round rather than enjoying his birthday with him. But he loved it so that is what counts! On his birthday eve we spent a few hours building this balloon arch, in total the arch cost less than £5 from Aliexpress. It was a bit of a mess about to make but it was defiantly worth it! I ordered all of Harley’s balloons from Aliexpress including pokemon balls and pokemon characters, it worked out so much cheaper to buy the balloons from there and then buy a canister of helium, than it would of to have bought the balloons from a party shop.

I always find with buffets you end up with too much food and it gets wasted, for the babies party earlier in the year they had a teddy bears picnic theme so we decided to make picnic boxes. This went down amazingly and worked out so much cheaper than doing a traditional buffet we decided to do them for Harleys party. Each box contained; jam sandwiches, a pear, a chocolate bar, a bag of crisps and a fruit shoot. I spent hours cutting and sticking to turn the boxes into look like poke balls. These went down a treat with hardly any waste.

How absolutely amazing was Harley’s cake! 2 years ago we stumbled across an absolutely amazing cake maker who made Harley’s Mr Tumble birthday cake for his 3rd birthday since then we have had so many amazing cakes and every cake blows my mind. They taste absolutely amazing, I am not a massive birthday cake lover but my days I always order a larger cake than we need so if can finish the cake off! Sam is so talented every cake is made to absolutely perfect, I never really know what I want but she always makes what I envision in my head but a million times better. If anyone is in tight Lincolnshire area check out Cakes Galore on facebook you will not be disappointed.

This year we decided to go all out with the entertainment, we had a large bouncy castle with a slide which comes with a large speaker and disco lights. We also decided to book a face painter and balloon modeller. I have seen many face paints but never anyone like Laura from Angel Faces, her face painting skills are out of this world the children genuinely looked like they had masks on and not that they had their faces painted they were true works of arts on their faces! Angel Faces also offer the additional extra for a balloon modeller to come along and again works of art! These were defiantly the icing on the cake for the party and made the 3 hours full of fun and excitement.

After the party we stayed in the garden with our close friends and family while Harley opened his birthday cards and presents. He had been totally spoilt! This year he sort of in a way understood that he had money to spend so after school on the Monday evening we went to the toy shop and Harley was in his heaven, he came out with pokemon cards, a pokemon toy for his bed and the PJ Mask vehicles he needed to complete his set.

And just like that the tiny little baby who stole my heart and changed my name to Mummy has celebrated his 5th birthday. I couldn’t be any prouder of the beautiful, polite, well behaved little boy he is growing up to be. Harley takes everything in his stride and has a heart of gold, if  I’m having a bad day and getting a little bit upset he comes over to me and wipes my tears while saying it’s okay Mummy cause I will look after you. I love you Harley Jay and here is to the next 5 years!

Hafmall Changing Bag

We have been super lucky to have been gifted this changing bag from Hafmall which is for sale on Amazon- I will add the link at the end of this post.

I have always been a Yummy Mummy fan, when Amelie was born instead of opting for a larger bag I bought a second bag. I will always be a Yummy Mummy lover but I am officially converted. The Hafmall Changing Bag Backpack has so many different features it is by far the most appealing changing bag I have seen!

Firstly the fact that it is a backpack means it comes in really handy now the babies are starting to walk, there is nothing worse than trying to hold two little hands and keep a bag on your shoulder. It also has handle clips which allow you to attach it to the pushchair. The top of the bag can either be folded over as shown in the photo or up right allowing more room within the bag. The front pouch of the bag has a removable thermal section which makes getting bottles into the pouches a lot easier. The bag comes with a removable purse which I have been using to keep Amelie’s dummy’s safe!
You also get a changing mat which matches the bag and folds up extra small so takes up minimal room.

My absolute favourite feature of this bag is the zip down the side of the bag, this allows you to access what is in the main pouch whilst the bag is on your back one handed! And we all know that feeling of what you want out being buried at the bottom of the bag, well with this changing bag there is no dragging everything out as you can get to the bottom of this bag using the zip!

This changing bag is only £25.99, which is an absolute steal! You can order yours here..

The First Day..

This morning I stood with a lovely group of Mum’s looking down at Harley trying to wrap my head around where the past 5 years have gone. Thinking how tiny he is stood their being drowned by his new uniform. Wondering if he would know where the toilet was, wondering if he would speak to his new friends or if he would go shy, wondering if he got upset would someone hug him. My mind has managed to think of virtually ever bad situation he may come across on his first day. I held his hand as the head teacher rang the bell and we had to line up. I walked through the doors with him squeezing his had tighter than ever. We then went to find his peg, which had his photo of him in a spider man costume from his taster day. We walked into the classroom he gave me a kiss and sort of walked away looking like a lost sheep alone, my heart sank I wanted him to run off all happy but within 2 seconds he saw the water play and that was it waved goodbye and shot off.

I can’t help but sit here feeling lost, sitting wondering where did my tiny baby go! Remembering the days at the start when it was the two of us against the world, we only had each other but that was enough. I swore back then by the time he started to school we wouldn’t live in that tiny grotty damp house we had when he was born, we would live in a nice are with a nice quiet school with a good reputation. I never imagined in a million years we would be living this life. People say make the most of them while they are so tiny because you’ll look back and wondered where the time has gone. I felt so frustrated this time last year that Harley has just missed out on getting into reception turning 5 a few days after the cut off point, Harley has always been fairly advanced so he was desperately ready for a new challenge. His nursery class last year was joined with the reception class which helped him get the challenges he needed, but still I was frustrated. Today I now realise what a absolute blessing this extra year has been.

I sit here feeling every possible emotion, I am excited for him to grow and learn, proud of the sweet little boy I raised, heart broken feeling like I’ve lost him and lonely now he isn’t here. I know my champ is going to absolutely love school but there is something about full time school and knowing it is for the next 13 years that seems so scary! This just makes me realise the weekends and the school holidays are now extra special and extra important to us and will become our family time. I must say as manic as the school mornings are I am happy to be back to in our routines, over the summer holidays the babies have napped when it suits them and not when they need it. They used to both go down and sleep as soon as we’d done the nursery run, today they both went down and slept after the school run! So glad to have our little routines back!

I am now sat waiting for Harley for home time and cannot wait to here all about his day! I have just had the bus driver ring to chat about him going on the bus so he will be getting the bus home today meaning we don’t all have to go out and travel 10 miles to the school we literally have to cross the road and meet him of the bus which he was adamant he needed to go on and wasn’t to happy that I drove him this morning!
