We have been extra lucky to have been invited to the Pink Pig Farm in Scunthorpe for Harley’s birthday. (The trip was delayed a couple of weeks due to illness).
When we arrived at the farm we entered via the shop and the lady working the store ensured that we had a map to hand and took her time to ensure we knew all the different areas of the farm so that we didn’t miss out on anything.
We started our trip in the Play Barn which is a large indoor soft play area, which is shaped like a pig face! There was different sections which were all clearly visible for the table areas. The tribe enjoyed lots of races down the slides! While the tribe and their Daddy were playing, I decided to order our lunch from the Play Barn, there was lots of choice on both the normal menu and the kids menu, me and Dan opted for the tuna melt panini and chips while the tribe had the sausage and chips with veggie sticks. The chips where proper hand cut homemade chips and were out of this world! So tasty there was certainly no waste!
We then ventured outside and came across the ‘Bale Pool’, this isn’t something I have ever seen before but was so much fun! Even Dan didn’t want to move on from this area! There was lots of different size bales of hay some that were still in the bale making them firm and then lots of scatter hay. In the middle of the shed was tops to swing over from one firmer bale to another. While the babies were happy sat playing in the loose hay Harley had to copy his Dad and swing across like Tarzan only he didn’t let go so just swang back and forth before letting go and falling into the loose hay. Harley then went off with Daddy for a go on the big zip line!
We then ventured through the farm and found the inflated pillows, these again were a massive hit for all the tribe. Harley loves balancing running around the edge of the pillow, Caellen loves jumping around and Amelie enjoyed sliding down the pillow. These really are perfect for everyone, the farm has two different sized inflatable pillows for different ages which works really well as when you have little ones it can be a bit scary letting them on something like this with older children. Also around this pillows are rubber chipping allowing for a safe landing too.
We then went on a tractor ride to see the pigs! The pink tractor and trailer was ready waiting for us, there was lots of space and the trailer was comfy. It was a bumpy ride which the tribe thought was hilarious, we then got to go past the pen with the piglets as well as round the field of pigs. After the tractor ride we went to have a look around the animals. Harley and Caellen loved running up the enclosures and discovering which animals were inside. The piglets were running around their pen and were definitely our favourite animal to see!
During our walk around the animals Amelie decided she would fall over head first into the gravel which gave us a great opportunity to witness first hand the first aid experience. We went over to the cafe and spoke to the waitress who was a trained first aider and couldn’t of been more helpful. She went off and got some sterile solution to wash out the wound and applied a plaster. We were really great full for her help, she was fantastic with Amelie.
We then went into the Play Lane area, this is amazing! The hall is laid out with different role play areas including a vets, shop, builders area, restaurant and dress up section. The tribe were in their elemant. Caellen loved getting dressed up as a builder and stacking the bricks up then pretending to drive the digger. Amelie was rather excited to be free to explore but enjoyed taking the animals in and out of the cages at the vets. Harley loved getting dressed up in the dressing up area as well as going to the shop for the things he needed in the restaurant to make us all some meals. While the tribe were playing me and Dan decided to have a slice of cake and a drink. I had a home made scone with jam and cream which was amazing! Dan had the topped brownie which lasted a few seconds because he enjoyed it haha!
There really is something for everyone at the Pink Pig Farm and something to do in any weather! You can easily spend the full day there open to close. The staff are all really friendly and happy to help, the place is tidy and has a really nice atmosphere. You know its a good day out when everyone but the driver falls asleep on the way home!
Thank you Pink Pig Farm for having us and the tribe to visit we cannot wait to come back again soon. For more information or to book visit http://www.pinkpigfarm.co.uk/
